Corns and Calluses accumulate on hard and thick areas of the body, they can usually be spotted on one’s feet, hands, and fingers.
Athletes such as Soccer players can buildup a lot more Corn and Calluses compared to average people due to constant movement on the field. It is important to monitor the condition of calluses and have them removed by a Foot Care professional if increased in thickness.
Differentiate Between Corn & Callus
Corns
- Hard Corns: Small in size and very dense, they form in a larger area of skin that has been thickened.
- Soft Corns: Corns that are soft natured have a whitish/gray colour; they also entail a soft and rubbery texture and appear between the toes.
- Seed Corns: The Seed Corns are small in size and mainly form on the bottom of the feet.
CALLUSES
- They are patches of skin that have been hardened with an increased in thickness
- They are larger in size and have a wider range of shapes; also more spread out compared to Corns.
- Areas on the feet such as heel, big toe, the ball of the foot and along the side of it, are mainly affected by Calluses.
- To some degrees, Callus accumulation on the bottom of the foot is normal.
